EKZ Renewables (Deutschland) GmbH purchases a sixth wind farm

3. September 2015
EKZ Renewables (Deutschland) GmbH has purchased its sixth wind farm. Four new wind farms in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt generate electricity for around 5'500 four-person households. This brings EKZ Renewables (Deutschland) GmbH significantly closer to its objective of generating 400 gigawatt hours of electricity a year from European wind power by 2016.

The Garlipp III wind farm is around 140 kilometres west of Berlin on a 2.5 square kilometre site in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Its four wind turbines generate around 25 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of around 5'500 four-person households. EKZ Renewables (Deutschland) GmbH holds a 75 percent stake, as it does at two other wind farms in Garlipp. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Garlipp: Electricity for 15'000 households
The Garlipp site, which went into operation between June 2012 and July 2015, has a total of 10 wind turbines. They utilise good wind conditions of 6.3 metres per second to generate renewable electricity for 15'000 four-person households.
