The joint venture with HelveticWind represented two investments for EKZ Renewables (Deutschland) GmbH in Italy.

Wind farm Eolo: Wind power from Apulia

EKZ Renewables (Deutschland) GmbH acquires in 2013 via its 20% participation in the HelveticWind joint venture a wind farm in Italy (Apulia).

The farm has a total capacity of 36 megawatts and is already in operation. The 24 turbines at the Eolo wind farm together generate around 67 gigawatt of electricity.

Wind farm Cerreto: Acquisition of a wind park in Italy

The cooperation HelveticWind acquired the wind farm in Genzano di
Lucania in Italy (Basilicata) in 2016. The wind farm has a total
installed capacity of 16 megawatts. This is HelveticWind’s second venture in Italy.

An example: Wind farm Buglia in Apulia
The park’s 5 turbines produce around 42 gigawatt hours of electricity per year.

The HelveticWind joint venture

The HelveticWind joint venture was founded in March 2010 by Energie Wasser Bern (ewb) and BKW Energie AG. EBL (Genossenschaft Elektra Baselland), EKZ Renewables (Deutschland) GmbH and SN Erneuerbare Energie AG (SNEE) joined HelveticWind Italia in September 2013.

ewb and BKW each hold 29% of the company's shares, EKZ Renewables (Deutschland) GmbH just over 20% and EBL and SNEE just under 11% each.

The partners aim to operate 2 wind farms in Italy over the next few years.
